Vattenfall funding awarded

Good news for the Community – Vattenfall who are construction firm behind the wind farm we see from our windows has made an award to the Trust. They support projects that are environmentally sustainable, and funds will go towards meeting the substantial costs of thermal insulation and double-glazed windows for the community hall. Although we still have some more fund raising to do to meet all our renovation requirements, this is a game changer.

Coupled with the ground source heat pump, they helped to purchase earlier, these improvements will maximise running efficiency, and reduce energy demand, as well has upgrading our space for social events and recreational activities, benefiting residents and visitors.

Culture Collective’s partnership with the Fittie Community Development Trust was instrumental in our success in obtaining this award since, among other aims, this project seeks to engage creatively, with those in Fittie who are interested in reducing our carbon footprint.

Fittie Trust Summer Fair

Following the success of our recent Afternoon Tea to mark the re-opening of the Hall in keeping with relaxation of government Covid restrictions, we are now happy to announce the return of the great Summer Fair!
The occasion will also offer a chance to learn more about our ‘Safe Harbour, Open Sea’ project.

Please join us for a bit of fun and chat on the 14th August, between 2 and 5pm. The event will have attractions both indoors and in the garden.
In terms of numbers allowed indoors, our numbers will be determined by the Scottish Government announcement on August 9th.

Hand sanitation, mask wearing indoors and distancing will still be observed.

As always, any donations to our very popular prize Tombola or to the jams/bakes stall are most welcome

The heritage and history of Fittie is being celebrated in an arts project that also looks to imagine the unique community’s future

Residents are being asked to join in with the Safe Harbour, Open Sea initiative and say what they would like to see it do and achieve as it looks at ways of bringing people together again as part of post-Covid recovery.

The year-long project – with arts organisation Open Road working in partnership with the Fittie Community Development Trust – now has a team of artists and creative producers working in this special fishing-village-in-the-city.

Pauline Brown, chair of the trust, said: “I think it represents a remarkable opportunity for those in Fittie who want to participate in something that honours the past of Fittie but looks towards the future and how they might be part of Fittie’s future… “

Introducing the second of our Fittie yoga teachers!

Sally Griffith took the Monday evening class through a beautifully presented, focused and challenging Vinyasa flow…

Our super fit and experienced yogis were satisfied and gentle alternatives were offered for those whose practice is ‘rusty’.

Both of our classes are full at the moment, but those on the ‘interested’ list will be contacted if spaces become available.

Fittie’s first yoga session!

Thanks to Dr Lucy Stroud for planning a gentle, relaxing and restorative Hatha yoga session for Fittie residents this morning.

Our first ever yoga session in the Hall was enjoyed by participants of all ages and Lucy tailored the session to accommodate all, from beginners to experienced yogis.

It’s such a joy to see the Hall being used in a positive, inclusive and life-affirming way.
